Happy New Year

I wish a very happy New Year to all our readers and contributors! Thanks especially to those few, we happy few, who helped us edit the Venetica wiki 2011.

I think I replayed Venetica far too much in 2011, taking screenshots, recording Experience and Reputation and Treasures, verifying maps, and trying to explore every possible path through the story. Phew!

In 2012 I plan to spend a lot of that time on some other games. I'm eager to replay Mirror's Edge and Enslaved, and crack open that Mass Effect 2 I bought a few months ago.

May 2012 bring you many successful Quests and Trophies!

Quests complete

There is now an article in this wiki for each Quest. That's something of a milestone, even though not all the articles have all the detail or maps they could use. But, the information should be enough to let anyone reading them to figure out how to complete the quest.

I think I plan to flesh out some of the instructions for a few of the more elaborate Trophies next. (I know most of you call them Achievements, but I'm playing with my PS3.)

After that, there are still the many Physical Skills and Mental Skills to describe. And then there's all the equipment and weaponry, herbs and potions, and so on. Still plenty to be done.

By the way, in case you missed it on my Talk page, let me mention again that there is an excellent German-language wiki d…

200 pages in the Arsenal

I barely noticed when the 200 page milestone rolled past. People, Quests, places, achievements,... they all seem to have added up.

Now that all the Inner City quests all have articles, it's time to move on to the Arsenal District. I found the in-game map for that sector rather confusing, what with the multiple levels all laid on top of one another. I'm going to try to edit up a simpler, two-part map, one showing the relatively flat lower two levels and another showing the spiraling climb to the upper levels above.

While I'm working on the map, I may temporize by documenting a few Skills. I've already collected most of the data on levels of mastery, damages and casting costs.

Graphic wordmark

I decided to try a "graphic wordmark", which is what Wikia calls the small 250x65 image that shows up in the upper left of each page. It replaces the previous plain text "Venetica Wiki" with something a little more thematic, if poorly executed. Surely any reader knows I'm no graphic designer. Does it look acceptable? Got a better design?

Adoption request

For what it's worth, I've made a request to the powers that be here at Wikia to "adopt" this Venetica wiki. There hasn't been an administrator for Venetica in over a year.

(Mostly, I'd like to pick some navigation menus at the top of the page that make more sense than the "most used" category default, and that seems to take administrator or bureaucrat access.)

On 100 Articles

Well, what you know, we now have over 100 articles on this wiki!

About half the articles (pages) described Venetica's characters. Who would have thought there were so many "named" characters in this story? Especially amazing when I know I have about a dozen still the go.

The majority of the remaining articles are on Quests, plus a batch on locations, creatures, and artifacts. Of the major locations, only half are done. Unfortunately, the Inner City and Arsenal District are more complicated than the ones I've documented so far. The Inner City needs the rooftops documented, while the Arsenal District has the complexity of being so three-dimensional with its stairs, bridges and elevated walkways, not to mention the platform elevator.

And then th…
